about the products
Beppe Spadacini's personal love for the tropics and colonial times shows up regularly in his work but he is prolific in a vast range of styles and colors. Take one look at his lush, tropical floral print silk scarves and blouses or the intricate scrolls and flourishes that typify his prints and you see the influence of his travels.
It takes him about a week to complete a design, depending on the intricacy and colors involved. He works in temperas, acrylics or oils on paper. The secret to his vivid colors is his method of applying colors five or more times.
"Certainly, I'll do any type of design that's requested of me," he says, "but it's tropical that interests me the most."
His trademark is the toucan which signifies good fortune, not to mention his love of the environment and nature. During a trip to Venezuela he saw this bird for the very first time. When he returned home he moved his studio to a beautiful old building overlooking the lake of Como and called it Studio Tucano.
